P0563 KIA System Voltage High

Possible causes
– Battery defective
– Loose or missing alternator drive belt
– Faulty alternator
– Open or short system voltage circuit
Tech notes
Higher than expected voltage problems are most likely caused by bad voltage regulator. The voltage regulator is part of the alternator.
When is the code detected?
Powertrain Control Module (PCM) sets the P0563 code if the PCM detects system voltage higher than the possible range of battery voltage.
Symptoms
– Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
P0563 KIA Description
The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) measures the voltage from ignition key and from main relay respectively and compares two voltages. This comparison will watch if the Main Relay has switched and remains on after ignition Key-On and if it has switched off after the ignition Key-Off.
